What Work experience do we offer?

We offer two types of work experience:

Under 16 work experience:

In partnership with local schools we run work experience weeks for 14-16 year olds to give them an introduction and overview of different jobs in Healthcare. We run this programme a few times a year and it is split between classroom based activities and doing some fun interactive workshops in the hospitals. The week aims to give a wide insight into the different careers in the NHS and offers children some great skills that they can take away with them.

If you are a school and are interested in getting involved then please contact Vicky Lumley – Victoria.lumley@mbht.nhs.uk / 01524 519319

Over 16 work experience:

Our Work experience programme for 16+ offers a 1 to 5 day placement in a department or setting that you are interested in. The Placements are purely observational, designed to give you the opportunity to meet and shadow staff members of the NHS. However there are some areas in which it is not possible to accommodate work experience students, these include Maternity, Children’s Units, A&E and Theatres.

If this sounds like something you would like to get involved with then please contact Jodi Slater – Jodi.slater@mbht.nhs.uk / 01524 519494

Where?

We offer work experience across our three hospitals, Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General Hospital and Royal Lancaster Infirmary. We can also offer work experience at local GP’s across South Cumbria and North Lancashire.
