Intensive Care Unit at Lancaster Royal Infirmary is supported by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team. Our patients experience a variety of acute and chronic conditions and our staff are professional, committed, caring and friendly.

We are seeking a caring, compassionate experienced Registered Nurse who can demonstrate excellent leadership skills, can delegate effectively, and work effectively and efficiently as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will be expected to work predominately Monday to Friday in an 80-20% supervisory capacity. They will have 24 hour responsibility with support from senior nurses who provide a 7 day support for the Trust.

Opportunities are available in CCU, Acute and Elderly Medicine and the Surgical Division at both of our main hospital sites which are situated at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) in Lancaster, Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal and Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow in Furness.

The Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Operating Theatre Department comprises of eight operating theatres, undertaking a variety of elective surgical specialties such as Breast, Max Fax, Ophthalmics, Urology, General and trauma.  We also undertake orthopaedic surgery and are a specialist centre in the North West.

We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified and experienced Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner the opportunity to join our Leadership Team to support and manage established multidisciplinary teams as a Clinical Leader within the theatre team.

You will have Leadership responsibilities for a Theatre Team, a designated theatre and be allocated other management duties. You will provide effective leadership and support to all grades of staff, work within the multidisciplinary teams and undertake the role of the clinical coordinator as required.

You will assist in the management of the nursing and ODP workforce, working with senior clinical staff across all Theatres and will participate in internal rotation to maintain continuity in Clinical Leadership.

Our theatre department is exciting and a supportive place to work. We have a dedicated learning and development coordinator, the department is committed to appraisal, to support continuous education and professional development. We have monthly education/development half days, a dynamic theatre management team and significant investment planned in our infrastructure and innovative electronic patient care recording systems.

You will possess extensive working knowledge of several perioperative environments and applicants must have significant experience of operational and management within a team as senior Nurse or ODP.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong leadership qualities.

You will be enthusiastic, motivated and flexible with an ability to adapt to meet service demands over a seven day period.

You may be required to participate in providing 24 hour cover including on-call.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated, forward thinking individual to join our team of Advanced Practitioners within the Medicine Care Group. 

We currently have posts available for Trainee Advanced Practitioners who enjoy working within a fast paced, acute environment, delivering high quality care.  You will work within the Acute Medical Unit and Ambulatory Care supporting both the nursing and medical teams in the assessment and treatment of patients with a range of conditions. 

The posts are specifically designed to drive forward improvements within the Ambulatory Care setting as per national initiatives.  This would be including unsocial hours over 7 days per week.

There will be the opportunity for professional development with a range of options to expand skills and knowledge.  There is also a strong network of Advanced Nurse Practitioners within the Medicine Care Group to provide peer support.

During the trainee period individuals will be paid at a percentage of 8a as per Agenda for Change.  The academic element of the Masters course will be provided at University of Cumbria over 3 years.

You will be paid trainee salary:
Pay will be Annex U/21:

• Year 1- 65% of the top of a Band 8a

• Year 2 – 70% of the top of a Band 8a

• Year 3 – 75% of the top of a Band 8a
