We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our team working at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. This is a full time position, working daytime on call Monday to Friday for the ENT team, which provides the ideal opportunity for a doctor to increase their clinical and surgical skills.
The Trust covers a large geographic area which encompasses the Furness peninsula, the city of Lancaster and the Lake District. We provide a comprehensive range of acute and support hospital services to a population of 350,000 based around Morecambe Bay. One of the largest employers in the area, we have approximately 6,000 staff working across five sites; Furness General Hospital (Barrow in Furness), Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital (Kendal), Ulverston Community Health Centre and Queen Victoria Centre (Morecambe). The ENT department is supported by 5 consultants, 3 Associate specialists and 2 junior doctors. We have a H&N Clinical Nurse Specialist and Advanced Nurse Practitioner in post.
There are specialised clinics such as a One stop Head & Neck clinic, Combined Rhinitis clinic, Paediatric clinics and Voice clinics. There are regular audit meetings, radiology meetings and video link meetings for the regional Head and Neck Multi-Disciplinary Team discussions in place.
The post holder will be expected to assist with Emergency Department patients, ward patients, attend ward rounds, deal with in house hospital referrals, undertake clinics and assist in theatre. There will be flexibility in working duties to suit individual development need. Our services are across a number of sites and you may be required to work at any of those sites due to service needs.
The Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.
