Ward 23 is looking to recruit an experienced Band 5 registered nurses to join our dynamic and forward thinking team. Ideally, you will have experience in nursing patients who are either in the acute stage immediately following a stroke or participating in the ongoing care phase of active rehabilitation after a stroke.

We are a 24 bedded ward specialising in stroke care and rehabilitation. We enjoy a close relationship with the clinicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapy and dieticians. You will be expected to proactively engage with these professions to provide the best quality care and outcomes for our patients. You will participate in providing and sharing information throughout the day, to patients and their relatives, at ward rounds and at regular ward multidisciplinary meetings.

You will be expected to participate in internal rotation onto night duty and to work over 7 days.

You will be encouraged and supported to mentor student nurses and junior staff nurses and to provide support to all team members through a proactive approach to managing your daily workload and appropriate delegation. Excellent communication and time management skills are a necessity to this position. You will be encouraged to develop your nursing skills, mentorship and you will be supported to undertake additional training and study days.

The Westmorland General Operating Theatre Department comprises of four operating theatres, undertaking a variety of elective surgical specialties such as Orthopaedics, Breast, Ophthalmics, Urology, General and some minor trauma.

We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified and experienced Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner the opportunity to join our Leadership Team to support and manage established multidisciplinary teams as a Clinical Leader within a theatre Team.

You will have Leadership responsibilities for a Theatre Team along with other management duties. You will provide effective leadership and support to all grades of staff, work within the multidisciplinary teams and undertake the role of the clinical coordinator .

You will be required to assist in the management of the nursing and ODP workforce, working with senior clinical staff across all Theatres when required and will participate in internal rotation to maintain continuity in Clinical Leadership.

You would possess extensive working knowledge of all perioperative environments and applicants must have significant experience of operational and strategic management within a team as senior Nurse or ODP.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong leadership qualities. You must also be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of key issues facing NHS and specifically Theatres services and the ability to translate themes and guidance to deliver aspirational clinical standards.

This post is essential to delivering local and national targets to ensure standards and quality of patient care and services are maintained, and will provide a vital role in supporting the continuing productive theatre programme.

You will be enthusiastic, motivated and flexible with an ability to adapt to meet service demands over a seven day period.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Advanced Practitioner to join our team in Ambulatory care. We would welcome applications from Nurses and other appropriate allied health professionals.

The Ambulatory Care Unit is a nurse practitioner led unit supported by Acute Physicians and Surgical Teams.

In order to meet the varied needs of our patients and improve patient experience and flow, alternatives to a fixed bed base have been created on the Ambulatory Care Unit located on level 6 at Furness General Hospital.

The Ambulatory care unit provides safer care for patients with both medical and surgical conditions, who do not need hospital admission and is a member of the Emergency Ambulatory Network.

Ambulatory care also supports patients in the Emergency department to support patient, capacity and help to reduce extended waits.

The unit operates 7 day working, shift patterns

There is a preceptorship package for new members of staff.

All Staff are encouraged to develop both personally and professionally and to be involved in the development of the unit.
