An opportunity has arisen, for a Lead Nurse, to join the innovative and passionate Infection Prevention and Control Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay has three main hospital sites spread across a wide geographical area.

We are seeking to recruit a compassionate and caring Clinical Nurse Specialist in advanced breast care to work across our 3 hospital sites – Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Westmorland General Hospital

You will link and work closely with the Primary Breast Care team to ensure a seamless referral process is established between the existing breast care team and the CNS for advanced breast cancer. This will enable a standardised approach to undertaking e-HNA for this cohort of patients. You will also work with the Macmillan Recovery Package Project Manager in implementing the Recovery Package. The Primary Breast Care team are the first team in the trust to work towards implementing the Recovery Package. The Breast Team have developed a Care Plan system and all patients are offered a Care Plan. The new CNS will be expected to operate to the same standard.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women, with more than one million cases and over 411,000 death occurring world-wide annually. Metastatic breast cancer is incurable, with the primary goal of treatment to extend life and palliate symptoms while preserving quality of life. It is identified that medical and nursing staff working within inpatient clinical areas encounter complex and very specialist cancer management and interventions.
