Applications are invited for a full time Consultant Physicians with an Interest in Geriatric Medicine.

Tis is a new posts created to enhance the current establishment of our Care of the Elderly team and to support the introduction of a new Acute Frail Elderly service. The expansion to our current service will ensure that all our frail elderly patients will receive Geriatric assessment and support when they access our services.

The post is based at Furness General Hospital and are substantive appointment.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Community Physiotherapy Service would like to recruit a well-motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Community Physiotherapy Team based in Barrow-in-Furness in South Cumbria. You will be based on the edge of the Lake District National Park giving easy access to recreational activities such as Fell Walking and water sports.

You will deliver high quality physiotherapy to patients in a  community setting, helping people to remain at home and avoid hospital admission. Therefore you must have the ability to work and travel to various sites across the Trust independent of public transport. The service works closely with the Integrated Care Communities, local GP’s, Adult Social Care and  hospital discharge teams for example. The service supports people with a wide variety of conditions including elderly care, frailty and falls, orthopaedics and long term condition management. 

We are looking for:

  • A Physiotherapist who has completed a range of core rotations within the NHS as a junior physiotherapist  and who is keen to develop their clinical skills further.
  • A motivated individual who can demonstrate evidence of their own professional development.
  • A Team player who can also work independently when necessary.
  • A friendly and flexible attitude, that is patient focused and dedicated to quality care. 

The Community Physiotherapy Service has a well-developed appraisal system, regular in-service training programme; access to regular clinical supervision provided by senior staff and actively encourages continuing professional development.

You will be expected to be involved in the supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students and other staff within the service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated 37.5 hour band 5 staff nurse to take up a rotational post between Langdales’s Step up Step Down Unit and an acute medical ward at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The post offers experience working at Abbey Road Clinic Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton Clinic, Millom Community Hospital where you will gain experience in running MSK education classes and rehabilitation groups alongside experienced staff. Therefore you must have the ability to work and travel to various sites within the Furness Locality.
